What is  Senescence?

Due to aging or stress, the cells lose their ability to proliferate ( generate new cells) and not able to die either! Therefore they become zombie cells

These zombie cells can make other cells become dysfunctional by producing pro- inflammatory cytokines or turning other cells to  cancer cells by producing growth factors

What are senolytic agents? Senolytic agents are the agents that eliminate the damaging effect of senescence cells. Senescence cells accumulate high levels of copper and iron, and the selective mechanism of quercetin or fisetin ( which are flavonoids) is probably associated with copper/iron-promoted oxidative damage in senescence cells.

Food sources of Quercetin:

Fruits and Vegetables are the primary dietary sources of quercetin, particularly citrus fruits, apples, onions, parsley, sage, tea, and red wine. Olive oil, grapes, dark cherries, and dark berries such as blueberries, blackberries, and bilberries are also high in quercetin and other flavonoids. ( mountsinai.org)

Food sources of Fiestin:

Fisetin is a dietary flavonoid found in various fruits (strawberries, apples, mangoes, persimmons, kiwis, and grapes), vegetables (tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers), nuts, and wine that has shown strong anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-tumorigenic, anti-invasive, anti-angiogenic, …
