Before Laser Peel Treatment

Read the information on the website regarding the specific treatment you have scheduled.

At least 2 months prior: You should stop using any retinol or similar products

2 weeks prior – Avoid sun-exposure, tanning beds, or sunlamps. Patients are  unable to be treated with a tan or a sunburn in the face.

4 days Prior – Start avoiding any foods containing garlic as this will help reduce bruising.

3 Days Prior – Discontinue the use of Aspirin. This can increase the risk of  bleeding.

Treatment Day

  1. Remove all the makeup before coming to the office and have a clean face.
  2. Remove all the jewelry from the face ( any piercing in the nose or lips or face) earrings and necklace.
  3. You may choose to take 500 mg Tylenol ( If drinking alcohol, avoid Tylenol) and up to 800 mg Advil before coming for your procedure.
  4. If you have deep peel and are taking any narcotics, you should have a  family member ( not Uber or cab) driving you to the office and back home  and that person needs to present their driver’s license to document in your  chart as your designated driver.

After laser

  1. Very important to apply the treated area with a re-epithelizing cream as often as needed to improve the healing  process. Cream recommendations to select from are: Bariederm Cicacream (Uriage), Cicaplast (La Roche Posay), Cicalfate (Avenne), Aquaphor (Eucerin), Vaseline. This helps to heal faster and have better results.
  2. Very important to use broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF of 50 and above, reapply every two hours if exposed to the sun. AVOID SUN EXPOSURE FOR AT LEAST A WEEK AFTER THE PROCEDURE (PREFERABLY TWO  WEEKS).
  3. Avoid active topicals, such as retinol, until fully healed.
  4. You may take a shower 4 hours after the procedure and then once or  twice a day and let the skin peel off in the shower, Do not pick on the skin  since it may cause scars.
  5. If you are in pain, please take Tylenol 500 mg every 4 hours and Ibuprofen or Advil up to 800 mg every 6 hours if you have a good functioning liver and kidney. Continue to avoid Aspirin until fully healed. Patients very rarely need any pain killer depending on how invasive the laser treatment is.
  6. Until you heal and there is no redness or swelling, please send one picture each day to: impristinewellnesscenter@gmail.com This would help the doctor to personalize your next treatment based on your response.

  8. If you are on Hydroquinone, restart after the redness and peeling is gone, until one month after the last session.
  9. For those who have deep peel, please take Zyrtec to prevent itching and scratching your skin for the first week after the treatment.
  10. Vinegar soak: for those who have deep peel, please start 24 hours after  the treatment with vinegar wash 1-2 times a day until complete peeling  happens.
    • A vinegar soak can help soothe and heal skin, reduce redness and prevent  infection after laser resurfacing.
    • Mix one to two teaspoons of white vinegar with 1-2 cups of cold  water, if it is irritating your skin, dilute it more.
    • Soak the gauze pads in the solution then put on your face or any  other treated areas, leave it for 10-30 min. You may repeat it 4-8 times a day depending on the depth of the peel. AVOID RUBBING, SCRUBBING,  PICKING ON YOUR SKIN.
  11. After washing your face with cold water, reapply vaseline to cover the whole area. It helps with the swelling on the face.
  12. If you have facial swelling, during the first few nights sleep with head up (you may choose the wedges to keep your head 45 degrees up at night)
